Give as Much as You Get in Israel/Palestine

In an earlier post I expressed my surprise that Israeli officials seemed to be okay with ceding East Jerusalem to the Palestinian State. Now Karin Laub (see her article here) says Palestinian officials may be willing to respond to colonization (another topic that has been interesting me) — in some areas by some Israelis — by ceding that land to Israel.
Israel gives some, Palestine gives some. The proposal is that both sides come out equal in area with reference to the 1967 borders, Laub reports.
This is a fascinating shift in that it alters the philosophy underlying the situation. No longer is the land itself the primary issue, but the space. And space is space. So space here is as good as space there, so long as they’re equal in area (or volume?).
This seems to me to be a huge concession by the Palestinian officials. It may have been Farmer Joe’s land that was taken, but they won’t demand it back. Just an equal amount somewhere else.
I wonder what Farmer Joe’s children think of the idea (or Farmer Joe himself, if he’s still alive).

Wow. It does seem to be a huge concession from the Palestinians. Interesting….
:) See you in 3! days!
