		<description>That is really really disturbing.

In the course I'm teaching, we just got done studying Descartes and Locke, who were instrumental in popularizing  (in the West) the idea that all humans have Reason, and therefore must be treated equally.

It's disturbing to see that -- even though the modernity which D. and L. produced shaped/created our country -- some within our country can still function outside of D. and L.'s fundamental idea.</description>

		<description>My husband works as a police officer and is very aware, because of his line of duty, that there is still a slave industry here in America.  So many illegal immigrants seeking refuge or a better life here in America are brought over by others from their country...and then are trapped into the slave trade.  It's horrible.</description>
