Clinton, Obama, and CNN — At My Alma Mater

My reaction to this is . . . I don’t know:
Clinton and Obama, in back-to-back interviews, will field questions from CNN’s Campbell Brown and Newsweek’s Jon Meacham as well as prominent members from the faith community. The Compassion Forum, sponsored by Faith in Public Life, will air at 8 p.m. ET on April 13.
The forum will take place at Messiah College, a Christian liberal arts and sciences school in Grantham, Pennsylvania nine days before the state’s presidential primary.
Messiah is my — and my wife’s — alma mater. It’s Timanda’s and Scott’s as well. So it’s nice to feel special. “Hey! Famous people at our old college!”
But I also find the “Compassion Forum” thing ironic. I felt persecuted and judged at Messiah. The school’s atmosphere is left-wing and pacifist. They try to be nice to everyone. Which is nice. But if when you’re not a left-wing pacifist, it doesn’t feel nice.
I’d love to teach at Messiah some day. It’s an excellent school, and I am infinitely better for my experience there. But the thought of ye olde alma mater is bittersweet for moi.

Hey, I blogged about the Compassion Forum, too, but your post was better. ;)
Yes, bittersweetness….
Well, I could go on and on here, but I won’t. In fact, this comment is fairly worthless as far as comments go. Oh well, you’ll still like me I’m sure. :) I guess I’m feeling empathetic with you and wanted you to know.
Hope ya’ll are well. :)
Ironically, the general student population was probably center-right.
