Paul’s Corinthian ‘Chauvinism’

I’ve got two new articles up at Sight Magazine. You can read them here.
They are the first two in a four-part series on 1 Corinthians 11:1-16 (one of the passages where Paul seems especially anti-woman).
This series is a follow-up to my article on what Genesis 2 has to say about women.

Good articles.
It’s so important not to just pluck a verse out of Scripture and try to apply it. CONTEXT CONTEXT CONTEXT!
I was reading a book that took 1 Cor. 14:14 out of context; the author used it to imply that some teach we shouldn’t use our minds because thinking leads to “sin, deception, and error.” (Sorry, I used “we.”) When read in context, Paul is exhorting people to sing and give thanks with spirit AND mind. :)
