Or rather, movies that The Wife and I have watched recently:
Not impressed. Juno’s character is entirely too relentlessly quirky to be believable. With each new scene you can feel the writer asking himself, “And how can I give her another new ingrained character quirk here?”
Her relationship with Bleeker — a key component of the plot — is almost entirely unrepresented/missing/cut out/absent/sparse. There must have been a lot more there in the script.
The performances all around were great, however. I thought Jennifer Garner was particularly good.
Decent. Does an okay job of not being too preachy re the environment.
Some good existential angst. (Is my work meaningful? What is my career worth to me (relative to my morals/personal code)? What’s the relation between vocational excellence and integrity/value?)
And then there’s Sydney Pollack. I’m sad that he’s gone now.

Thanks for getting to the bottom of the Juno thing. I think that’s it. A number of writing books I’ve read warn against that character. You need someone who’s not always come up with something new and random.
Yay!
In fact, I noticed it because you had told me about the issue in those books you were reading.
I get educated by you, I understand what I’m seeing better. And I get to help you back. We can now articulate our world more betterer together!
:-D
