You Gotta Try This

Marry a progressive pacifist (and no, that is not redundant) Mennonite.
Begin attending a progressive pacifist Mennonite church with your spouse.
Observe your progressive pacifist Mennonite church members’ love for the poor and oppressed.
Observe how your progressive pacifist Mennonite church has had its voting rights revoked in its conference because it accepts gay members.
Turn on hidden video camera.
Come out to them.
As a conservative.

I take it you did all of this except the hidden camera, YouTube part?
You’re such a tease.
Wait - I’m confused. Did this happen? Is that good? Bad?
Sorry Scott. Yeah, no camera or YouTube. But I did create a little bit of a stir at the potluck dinner after today’s service.
Now we just wait for word to spread throughout the congregation . . . .
As to Sarah’s question: I don’t think it was a good thing, no. But I also don’t think it’s a big deal.
Some people knew already, but this was the first time I’ve created any controversy. Perhaps if I had handled it better there wouldn’t have been any controversy, though.
I don’t feel welcome anymore, but that’s my own feeling and has little to nothing to do with reality. *grin* And I’m sad that I’ve stigmatized The Wife by being a dirty conservative and married to her.
Don’t worry, we’ll still tolerate you :)
*grin* Yay!
I suppose I could see myself as giving everyone a chance to practice tolerance, value diversity, etc.
Aren’t I so helpful? ;-)
